Dušan Baran has many years of experience in the banking and financial sector. For more than 5 years he worked as CFO and Vice-Chairman of the Board at Sberbank CZ. He also worked in managerial positions at Česká spořitelna. In 2000-2013, he was Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Financial Officer and in 1999-2000 Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer.

The Guarantee System is an institution established by law for the provision, management and use of funds intended to secure and maintain the stability of the financial market in the Czech Republic. The Board of Trustees, as the highest body of the GSFT, is composed of five members and consists of two employees of the Czech National Bank, two employees of the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic and one member appointed on the proposal of the Czech Banking Association. The members are appointed by the Minister of Finance for five years and may be reappointed. The current list of Board members is available here.

The internal units of the Financial Market Guarantee System are the Deposit Insurance Fund and the Crisis Resolution Fund. As of 30 June 2024, the Financial Market Guarantee System had CZK 47.53 billion in the Deposit Insurance Fund and CZK 37.94 billion in the Resolution Fund.
