Face-to-Face Environment
The environment in which the transaction is executed under all of the following conditions:
- the card is present
- the cardholder is present
- the transaction is carried out by an employee of the merchant or the clearing bank.
Transactions in that environment include: sales of goods or services, T&E (travel and entertainment) transactions, cash withdrawals (over the counter).
