Stock

A security issued by a company that certifies that its owner (holder) is a shareholder, i.e. that he or she has contributed a certain amount of equity (capital) to a joint-stock company. A share entitles the holder, for example, to co-determine at a general meeting the basic issues of the company's business. The shareholder is entitled to a share in the company's profits, the so-called dividend, the right to the liquidation balance, the right to information. The shares most traded on the stock exchange are called blue chips.
